April 2014 - Rural Reporter Casper tells about his trip to Rockport-Fulton. Spring has sprung and sprouted up festivals this month! There's lots of neat ones around Texas: Cotton Gin Festival in Burton, Sausage Festival in Schulenburg, Jamboree in Smithville, Bluebonnet Festival in Chappell Hill and the Flea Festival in Jewett.

March 2014 - There's railroad history aplenty in Brownwood, as rural reporter Casper discovers on his trip. Texas Ranger Day in Burton, Crawfish Boil in Belton and Gumbo in Luling.

February 2014 - Tis the season to love Texas with Valentines dinners and dances, a Mardi Gras or maybe a rural Farmer's Market and theatrical show. Farmer's  and Craft Markets blooming all over in Ennis, Bellville, Blanco and Hallettsville. Theater also takes a bow in Rockport, Clute and Bay City.

 

November 2013 - Everyone's ready for Christmas and the events have already started! For those who want to wait a little, there's dinner & mystery theater, stargazing and quilt shows. Others enjoy the Victorian Christmas Tea, Festival of Lights & shopping! Special stuff going on in Smithville, Clute, Angleton, Bastrop, Brenham, Hallettsville, Blanco, Schulenburg and Columbus.

October 2013 - Join Casper on a new adventure to Nocona and Bowie, then discover some great fall events including Oktoberfest, Scarecrow Festival, Chocolate Lovers Fest, Hogeye Festival and Texas Mushroom Festival. Information on Smithville, Mt Enterprise, Hallettsville, Burton, Brownfield, Ennis, Lexington, Luling, Belton, Schulenburg, Madisonville, Chappell Hill and Brownwood.

 

September 2013 - Rural reporter Casper explores the sweetest town in Texas as he makes a trip to Honey Grove. Read about paintball, ziplines, scuba, food and festivals galore.

August 2013 - Journey with rural reporter Casper to visit dinosaurs in Glen Rose, pick some lavender in Chappell Hill, grab some tasty veggies at the Market, listen to beautiful flute music then get a good nights rest at the Smithville Cottage.

July 2013 - Nothing says fun like a bunch of Texas skeeters, right? You might be surprised in Clute at the Great Texas Mosquito Festival. There are 4th Festivals in Giddings, Brenham, Gonzales, Livingston, Jefferson, Blanco, Brownwood, Belton, Canton, Comfort, Onalaska, Mineral Wells. Happy Birthday, America. For the more unusual, try Brownfield's Vineyard Festival, Sock Hop in Canton, Casino Night in Smithville and the National Day of the Cowboy in Jefferson.

 

June 2013 - There's Red, White and Blue galore this month! Belton shares it's July 4th event and you can gear up with festivals in Brenham, Schulenburg, Wharton and fireworks in West. Don't miss the Possum Palooza, Watermelon Thump and Lavender Festival!

May 2013 - Ride'em Cowboys! There's rodeos and fests a-plenty this month! From Giddings to Lexington to Mineral Wells. Ropin', Riding, Bulls and Bustin' Mutton. But that's not all that goes on. You'll find Dewberries in Cameron, Polka in Ennis and Films in Smithville.

April 2013 - The backroads are covered with blue as our bluebonnets herald the coming of Spring! So let's take a trip with rural reporter Casper as he visits Ennis, the Bluebonnet City, then take in the Bluebonnet Festival in Chappell Hill. Also learn more about the history & neat things to see in Jefferson TX. March 2013 - Burton is a great place to be with lots of happenings this month, especially the Texas Ranger Days and Big Star Texas Night. February 2013 - Enjoy another adventure with Casper to some great locations in Hillsboro, find some great music or dancing, or maybe take your sweetie to see a live theater show. The British Drama- "The Chalk Garden" shows in Brenham this month. Also includes articles on Brownwood, Rockport, Blanco, Schulenburg & Gonzales.

January 2013 - It's cold but there's plenty to do indoors! Start by reading about Casper's travels through Angleton, Clute and Brazoria County. Also included are tidbits about Rockdale, Hamilton, Brenham and Cameron. Don't miss the Lavender Festival Art Contest in Blanco. What a great state we have!

December 2012 - Christmas truly is the season of lights. There's so many bright activities that you may just need your sunglasses all month. Read about Christmas fun in Rockport-Fulton, Angleton, Christmas on the Chisholm Trail in Belton and a special Czechmas in West.

November 2012  -  Casper is exploring again - in West, Texas! Read about Belton's warm & wonderful Christmas activities. Also some great stuff in Blanco, Sealy, Brenham and Schulenburg.

October 2012  -  The Smithville Texas Photo Festival is such a great event, everyone was a photographer and everyone a model as the cameras flashed. You don't want to miss it! Another bit of craziness will be Elgin's Hogeye Festival with music, food, arts & crafts and most certainly the Royal Hog Coronation and a performance by the Elgin Sowpremes. It's a great day to be in Texas.

 

September 2012  -  This month features Gonzales and the "Come and Take It" Festival, certainly a historical event. Also read about the festival for Texas authors in Giddings and the Oldest County Fair in Texas.

August 2012  -  August is a new month, a new Backroads format and new Partners to welcome! We hope you enjoy them all. Also you will find some great info on Lavender & Wine, Historic learning and a Tailgate Party. Whoohoo!

July 2012 - In this issue you'll learn how Clute has taken a pesky little bug and turned it into an occasion for fun and celebration. Our rural reporter, Casper, has been on the backroads again. This time his adventures have taken him through Schulenburg and Flatonia to see the breath-taking painted churches and more. Other stories: Brenham, Chappell Hill, Rockport.

 

June 2012 - Featured this month is Belton, voted by USA Today as "One of the Nation's Top 10 Places to Fly your Flag on the 4th". Read about all the great venues and events they have going on to find out why! Other stories include: Iraan, Round Top, Brenham, Terrell, Giddings and Rockport-Fulton.

May 2012 - Features this month are on Bridgeport, "The Stagecoach Capital of Texas" as our rural reporter, Casper goes on a new adventure. Also a recap of Elgin's Art Tours, just to let everyone know the date has changed to May 19th. Not to be missed! Other stories include San Juan, Brenham and Blanco.
