Brenham / Washington County Chamber of Commerce
We'd love to have you visit Brenham/ Washington County, known as the "Birthplace of Texas." Located between Houston and Austin, Washington County's rolling green hills hold tourism treasures.
Visit Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historic Site where the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed in 1836 creating the Republic of Texas. Located within the Site, tour the replica of Independence Hall, the Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm.
The Burton Cotton Gin, built in 1914, is another must-see destination. Designated as a National Historic Engineering Landmark, this cotton gin is the only one of its kind in the nation.
Blue Bell Creameries, established in 1907, offers weekday tours of its facility, ending in the ice cream parlor where visitors taste (we think) "the world's best ice cream!" Whether you plan to visit wineries, greenhouses, horse farms, enjoy unique shopping opportunities, stroll historic downtown Brenham, stay in our hotels or quiet bed and breakfasts, Brenham/Washington County offers many opportunities to accommodate your group. Please let us know how we may assist you as you plan your travels to Brenham/Washington County.
